Winter Progress at St. James Place

Progress is still being made at St. James Place Apartments despite this bitter cold.  The dirt is filled in around the foundations and the decks have been built. We have scheduled the electricity install and we hope that will happen in the next week or so. We have to install the septic tanks and grinder pumps and connect to the main service line as well as finish the punchout work inside. This can only happen once the units have heat in them, so we must wait a little longer. Even though there’s not much left to do, the winter weather definitely slows things down!

Winter’s dark days and cold winds can make it easy to doubt our success, but we know the sun will soon grow warmer, encouraging us to remember that spring is coming and we will race towards the finish line on these much-needed apartments!

As you have heard over and over again, we are still raising money to match the Perry Foundation Grant. This $65,000 grant is what we need to fully fund these units. The grant requires a one-to-one match and $65,000 is a huge amount to raise!

But we are just a smidge under halfway there! Thank you to all our current donors! We've had 65 individual donors so far for a total just under $22,000 and we've had grants that total $9,200 which gets us to a little over $31,000 or 48% of the match.

If you believe in and want to support affordable housing in Nelson, each dollar you donate will be matched by the Perry Foundation Grant.

We cannot do this without you! Please donate today!
